Al-Balad, the historic district, loosely represents the centre of Jeddah; King Abdul Aziz St is its main north–south thoroughfare, and has a host of restaurants, banks and shops. Medinah Rd is the principal street running north from the centre, flanked to the west by Al-Andalus St.
The corniche (Al-Kournaish Rd) runs the length of Jeddah’s coastline from Jeddah Port in the south to the city’s northern outskirts.
